Rylie (Millie) Parra-Cortez '18 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Millie Cortez, (legal name: Rylie Camille Parra-Cortez) I live in Queen Creek, Arizona. I am sixteen years old, and am a Junior at Queen Creek High School.  My collegiate goals are to attend a school which will provide me with an education to succeed in the future and hopefully to play the sport I love.  I have been playing competitive softball for seven years and understand what it takes to play at a collegiate level.  I train hard and am always trying to better myself mentally and physically.  Initially I pitched for three years in both club and school ball, however I have gravitated towards, and found my niche playing corners, with third base as my primary position.

My coaches tell me I have fast hands, have great footwork and am fast at charging a slow rolling ball to get the out, and am quick at fielding short hops. I stay low on the approach and field with strong accuracy and throwing on the run. As a hitter, I typically bat in the middle of the line-up, and can be counted on to produce RBI’s. I am a right handed batter with strong line drives and can hit for power.  I am a dedicated and committed softball player and feel that I am adaptable to different coaching methods and techniques.  I am able to assess the game in play and react appropriately.  I have not committed to a college major yet, but I have aspirations towards a career in in the health industry, leaning towards Respiratory therapy, or possibly radiology.
