Personal Statement
My name is Avellaka Arviso. I'm a memeber of the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians. I am a senior at Hemet High School in Hemet, California. I started playing softball when I was 7 years old and started pitching when I was 8. I have been playing softball all my life and I love it! I have played for many softball teams including recreation, all-stars, travel ball and in Native American tournaments on different reservations. I have seen many different levels of competition, which pushes me to be a better player. My athletic goal is to be able to pitch at a collegiate level. My academic goal is to keep a 3.0 - 3.5 or higher GPA throughout my high school years. Hopefully this will help me reach my dream to attend a four year university. I am still trying to decide what to major in. I really want a career where I can help people, which is why my first choice was a paramedic. I am also researching law or criminal justice. I also have an interest in culinary arts, hopefully I will be able to fit that into my hobbies. It is very important to me to have a successful career. I just want the opportunity to do what I love in college and earn a degree while doing it. I will push myself to succeed both in academics and athletics.
