Personal Statement
My hopes are that my current goals and aspirations will lead to my future dreams. Some are specific and others, especially when looking forward several years, are more general. These, I am sure, will become more specific with time and experience. Currently, I am working hard at maintaining a GPA as close as possible to a 4.0. Ideally my goal would be a 4.0, but this year, my B in Geometry is holding me back on attaining it, even though it is currently the second highest grade in my class. When able to take the SAT/ACT, I hope to score well, as I realize the better the grades and the better the test scores I am able to achieve, the better the college opportunities will be for me. This same goal will of course, carry over to college, as then the better the job opportunities will be for me. Softball is and has been one of if not my biggest passion. Therefore, a majority of my goals, aspirations and dreams are centered on this sport that I love to play. My current goal is to make the varsity team this year, as a freshman. Both the skill and competition levels are much greater at the varsity level, and I strongly hope to be able to participate at this level. Making all-county, preferably all four years is a definite goal, as well. I am also looking forward to this next year’s ASA team and starting to compete again in tournaments. My coach has high hopes of us attending the Western Nationals, and I hope to be a strong contributor to making this happen. My dream is playing college softball for a competitive team at a good college. Having been a catcher since t-ball, (luckily-none of the other girls my age wanted to neither wear the heavy gear nor constantly chase after the ball which I loved), I of course am hoping to be able to play this position. However, I have been working a great deal at outfield and other positions, as ultimately, just being able to play is most important. Although my dream of playing college ball is definite, that of my career choice is not. Currently, I am strongly leaning towards a degree in the field of kinesiology. My parents are firm believers in choosing and going after a career that you love to do, and this would enable me to be around and involved in sports that I love.
