Personal Statement
My name is Cristina Menjivar. I'm 17 years old and a senior at Archbishop Mitty H.S. in San Jose, CA. I have been playing softball since I was 6 years old. I live in South San Francisco and have been driving 90 miles a day to attend my school for the past three years. I do this because Archbishop Mitty H.S. is not only known for its solid academic curriculum but also for its excellent softball program as well. According to ESPN Rise, we are currently the #1 softball team in the country. When not attending games, we practice two to three hours a day Monday to Friday. I also practice three to four hours every Sunday with my club team, San Jose Sting. For the past three years, I have had the highest batting average on my club team. Last year, I hit .623. I am dedicated, disciplined and committed to being the best I can academically and athletically. In my free time, I do community service at Temporary Tot Tending pre-school in South San Francisco and I am an assistant baseball coach for the South San Francisco Boys and Girls club Junior Giants Baseball League. I have just completed an additional 25 hours of community service at West Valley Community Center in Cupertino, CA. This is who I am.
