Softball has been my main priority since I was in 3rd grade. I have gone to practices and games almost everyday for about 10 years and I do not regret one day of it. I have worked hard in those 10 years to try and compete at the collegiate level. However in my sophomore year I had faced an injury that set me back at the most crucial time for softball recruitment. I was unable to go to showcases or request for a recruiter to watch me play because of my injury, but I have not stopped trying. I do not use that injury as an excuse, but more as a motivator to achieve the things I want out of life. I am currently a freshman at my local community college in order to save money for future college endeavors.
As a child, I grew up 3,000 miles away from my family. The only thing that brought me close to them was sports. Sports is what I am most passionate about, which is why I want to major in Athletic Training, for rehabilitation purposes. The things that make me stand out are my commitment and dedication to the things I do. When I was injured for about a year I didn't miss one practice or game. I worked hard in my physical therapy to get back onto the field. When I put my mind to something I don't give up, I follow through with it until the end. For instance in games, if we are losing, and there is plenty more game left to play, I won't give up. The game isn't over until the umpire has called it.
I am a leader, I am currently the captain of my varsity team. I am the only one on my team that has been a starter all four years for the varsity team. As captain, I feel it is my job to encourage and teach the other girls good sportsmanship as well as the skills of the game.
