Personal Statement
My name is Madison Helman and I am a 5'10" dedicated athlete. I play for Firecrackers Humble - 18U in Southern California as primary catcher, first base and utility. All my life I've worked tirelessly to become faster, stronger and better; but I also understand that everyday I can work on any one of my mental, physical, or emotional skills.
Throughout my career so far I have learned that I have only a small portion of talent. What makes me different from other athletes is, while they showed off their talent, I was lifting weights, taking lessons and doing everything in my power to become the best person, and athlete I could be. As I worked during that time I also learned that the softball field is another classroom to learn life lessons and make friends and family. One thing I do want to emphasize is I understand the importance of school; I understand that softball and the classroom go hand in hand with each other as I put my best efforts towards both to exceed my goals.
My short term goals are to continue to excel in school, continue to develop as an athlete, and to go to college on a softball scholarship. My ideal college is a DI, DII or DIII school that will have the best fit for me both academically and athletically. I am willing to go anywhere in the country for college as the conference in which the school is in will have no effect on my decision (i.e. Pac 12, Big 10, SEC etc.). I want to participate in a college that fits me and where I can make an impact in their program. I love this game with all the dirt, sweat and tears, and I look forward to becoming a part of the collegian athlete programs.
