Mikayla Newham '15 Recruiting Profile

Hello,

My name is Mikayla Newham and I am currently attending and playing softball for Yavapai JC in Prescott, Arizona. I just finished a very successful freshman year with my team finishing 4th in the nation! My goal is to obtain my AA Degree, win a National Championship, and transfer to a 4 year college with a competitive program and good academic program to finish my degree. So far during my career I have won a championship of some sorts at every level of softball that I have played and want to continue that into my college career.

My main position is center field, but I have played catcher, first base and all outfield positions during my high school and travel career. This past season for Yavapai I played left field. I consider myself to be a very versatile player, who is willing to play where ever I am needed to help the team succeed. Offensively I am a triple threat left handed hitter who can bunt, slap and hit. I have batted leadoff during my entire softball career, including last year at Yavapai, and love the feeling of being a leader on my team and setting the table for other hitters to bring me in, but feel I can be an asset no matter where I am placed in the lineup due to my versatility.                                              

Playing college softball has always been a huge dream and goal for me. I am very passionate about the game of softball and would love nothing more than to continue to play at the college level at a 4 year university, while most importantly continuing my college education and obtaining a degree.
