Personal Statement

Why I love softball

I have never loved another sport or anything the way I love softball.  There is just something about the game that makes me give my all and leave every last bit of me in between the lines.  I love the sound of the fans cheering, the chants from my teammates while I am up to bat, and the feel of the laces rubbing off my fingertips when I throw every pitch.

That feeling started years ago when I played my first Little League game.  I had a coach ask if I wanted to try pitching and as soon as I did, I knew I had found my spot.  From that day forward I knew that softball was my sport and pitching is what I wanted to do.  I have a big responsibility being the pitcher, but I love the feeling of being able to control the game and being part of every play.  Being a pitcher means that everybody is watching every pitch and that makes the game, for me, a little bit more challenging.  It is those close games where I know every pitch counts that makes the game thrilling for me.

My experiences have made me the pitcher I am today and have formed the desire for where I want to go. We haven't won every game, but we have had a lot of success and a lot of fun.  Softball has taught me about friendship, teamwork, dedication, and commitment.  It has also given me the drive and confidence to succeed not only on the field, but also in the classroom, and most importantly in life.

My goal now is to work for an opportunity to keep playing this game at the next level and to continue to grow to be the absolute best that I can be.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
