Personal Statement
My name is Jenny Slaughter. My number one goal after high school is to play collegiate softball. This has been my dream since I was a little girl and I've been working hard to achieve this goal ever since. My dedication to softball has meant more to me than anything else. I am working out, running, hitting, practicing, or playing every day of the week. I strongly believe there are no days off.
I have built some of the strongest relationships through softball. I've always had a very strong connection on and off the field with my coaches. My teammates have become very good friends of mine. Being coached by college coaches and previous college athletes has been a great help with improving my softball skills. I have personalized my slapping technique so that it is different from anybody else's to help improve my batting average, on base percentage, and with ball placement (with the help of Natalie Smith, former University of Kentucky softball player, and Matt Smith, former Phoenix College coach and current Glendale Community College coach).
As important as softball is to me, school is even more important. I want to major in education. I do a lot of community service at The YMCA with the 12 and under children's circle. These kids and my teachers have inspired me to want to go into the education field. I am in the SPED EFE program at my high school as well. I work with the high school students that have a disability and guide them through school so that they will have a fair chance and a good high school experience, just as every kid deserves. As much as I have learned from these students and from their teachers, I would like to further my education in college by minoring in special education.
I am open to any colleges that need a lefty slapper with speed and a center fielder.
