My name is Madalyn “Maddie” Mitchell; I am currently a sophomore at Valor Christian High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. I am a two year starting varsity infielder for my high school softball team, in addition I have played shortstop for the last seven years for my travel/club teams. My current travel team is the Colorado Styxx. Not only have I played shortstop but, I have played every position on the field including occasionally pitcher over the past two years. Starting May 2015, it is my intention to switch my primary defensive position to Centerfield/Rightfield.
From the moment I picked up a bat I knew I wanted to play at a competitive level, making the varsity team was my first goal now I am looking to play at a collegiate level. I'm the person who thrives on competition and is willing to put in the countless hours it takes to make myself the best I can be both on and off the field. Playing softball at the collegiate level is my dream, but more importantly going to college as well.
I work very hard at being a good student, and take pride in always being respectful to my teachers. I am diligent about completing my assignments and improving my grades. I am a true leader and not a follower. I have high goals and standards for myself and I am always encouraging my fellow peers to achieve a higher sense of worth inside and outside of school.
I hope my actions on the field can affect people off the field. I bring a positive attitude to the game and practice every day. I am very coachable and always looking for ways to improve my performance. I never point fingers when mistakes are made. Quite the opposite, I encourage others to learn from their mistakes and build on them. This can always be a challenge, but if you keep your composure, and are sincere, encouragement can be expressed with only a few words.
In close games or even games we are losing I will not give up or lose hope, I believe you play with everything you have until the last out of the last inning. To help achieve my goals on the field I have invested countless hours on practice fields, with batting instruction, conditioning and working with other instructors. This is critical because nobody can achieve greatness on their own. I am a student athlete that gives 110% in school and on the field.
Thank you for taking the time to read about me, and I look forward to meeting you!
