Personal Statement

My name is Sam Petow and I attend Glastonbury High School Class of 2019. My high school is ranked within the Top 10 academic schools in Connecticut. I feel that this challenging academic curriculum I am facing now will prepare me for the athletic and academic balance I will need to succeed as a student-athlete in college. I am a member of the National Honor Society and I have maintained High Honors every quarter since my freshman year. Athletically, I primarily play middle infield and outfield, but my versatility allows me to step in anywhere I’m needed. I have started at shortstop for my high school varsity team since freshman year. Our team plays in the largest conference in Connecticut (Class LL Conference), competing against the largest schools which carry some of the most successful and competitive athletes in the state. I have had much success on this team as well as my travel team because of my range and strong arm. I have also been complimented by both my high school and travel coaches for my speed and instincts both on defense and on the bases.

As a teammate, I am very vocal and supportive both on and off the field. Being part of a team environment is something that I take a lot of pride in because since I am an only child, I’ve been able to create special bonds with different players throughout the years that have become like family to me. Especially as a captain for my high school team, I enjoy being able to be the person others can go to for help, as well as being able to coach younger players that are soon to be at the high school level as well. I am looking forward to continuing my softball career during college and I am willing to put in the time and effort needed.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
