Meghan Labbe '15 Recruiting Profile

Hello! I am Meghan Labbe and I am from Brooklyn, Connecticut. I have been playing softball for eight years and have known since my freshman year that I wanted to play in college. Softball is my passion and what I love to do day in and day out. I give 120% everyday as if every game and practice is a tryout. I am a leader on my teams and try to set a good example for the younger and older players. When my teammates are discouraged or upset I find a way to bring up their spirits and get their heads back into the game. I look to become a member of a division I or II collegiate team. I know that I have the heart and drive to play in college. I don't just like softball, I love it. Every time I step out onto the field I get a rush. It is what I look forward to in my day and not once have I every dreaded going to practice or a game. I am not an ordinary player who is not looking to pursue a softball college career in the future. I am looking to play in the future and that's what I strive for everyday. When I am not on the field I am in school or doing school work. I am a high honors and honors student who takes pride in their academic achievements. I work hard in and outside of schools to get good grades because they are very important to me. I enjoy making connections with my teachers and creating a good student to teacher relationship in all of my classes. I have also been a part of student council and class council since my freshman year. Student council and class council are both clubs at my school that do fundraisers to raise money for our towns and our graduating class. I have been a part of many fundraisers we hold at Woodstock Academy such as Trick-or-Treat Street, Fall Foliage Fling, Toiletry Drive, Blood Drive, Relay for Life, Toys for Haiti, School dances, Cystic Fibrosis Walk, and Teacher appreciation week. In student council we also do small in-school fundraisers to raise money for our graduating class such as: butter braids, yankee candle fundraiser, dodge ball, class dues, junior and senior prom, homecoming senior year, and Mr. Woodstock. I am especially different from other players regarding my character. I am a selfless and kind person. I am very responsible, dependable, and self-reliant. I am always polite and respectful to others and am always concerned with and thinking about how the people around me feel. I have great priorities, which consist of family, academics, and athletics. I consider myself as a leader on and off the field, always helping those who need my assistance.  Overall I am a person who anyone could go to for advice, help, comfort, and leadership. My family is the most important aspect of my life. They are my support system and my backbone. I wouldn't be who I am or where I am today without them. They are supportive in everything that I do and are who I go to for advice. I have four brothers and two sisters who I love and support. My siblings mean the world to me and I would do anything for any one of them. I am one of the middle children, making it so I look up to two of my brothers and both of my sisters. As for my two younger brothers I guide them and stand as a role model for them to look up to. I am most grateful for my mom and my dad. They are the people who raised me and taught me right from wrong. I look up to them and aspire to make them proud each and everyday. I don"t know what I would do without my family. Overall I am a very well-rounded person with a bright personality and a drive to work hard.
