Personal Statement

I believe being athletic is different than being an athlete. I have always been athletic and have had the abilities to excel in different sports that I have played. I realize being an athlete is not just about athletic attributes, but more about the intangibles that allow for success. Intangibles are where I surpass my peers. I have confidence and a belief that my daily work habits provide constant progress. This allows me to work through tough practices and workouts and value the benefits of hard work. I go for it mentally and am unafraid of failure since I know I prepare hard every day. I have an enthusiasm for continuous improvement and look at coaches corrections as a compliment and an opportunity to improve. I take pride in being part of a team and focus on reaching my goals no matter what stands in front of me. I take personal responsibility for my actions and performance while discovering where I can make a difference. Finally, I understand that academics are my priority. Luckily, my intangibles of true confidence, teachable spirit, pride of accomplishment and accountability allow me to excel in the classroom, as well as on the field.

Most memorable moments were the 4 BB. Took all to a 3-2 count and fouled off at least four pitches with each at bat before walking.

No errors or passed balls:) My most memorable highlight was a delayed steal from second to third. My coach and I had talked the inning before that the catcher was throwing the ball back to the pitcher from her knees with runners on base. She told me that if I got on to think about doing a delayed steal. The next at bat I hit a double and two pitches later I delay stole third. It was a good strategy since the next pitch was a passed ball which allowed me to steal home.

I loved playing against the senior competition and players who have committed to colleges and universities, especially the DI committed pitchers. I had a very good showing both offensively and defensively. Here are my statistics for the overall event: BA .467, OBP .529, SLUG .733, OPS 1.263, RISP .667, AB 15, H 7, 2B 1, HR 1, RBI 4, BB 2, Sac Bunt 1, SB 2, SBA 2, R, 4. In the field I played at Catcher and Third Base. At Catcher my CSP% 1.000 - 3 for 3, no passed balls or errors. At Third Base - PO 3, A 4, no errors.

I was only able to play in three games due to my taking the SAT on Saturday, but I was very productive with my at bats. Here are my statistics for the event: Teams played – Richmond Ruckus, Illinois Bash and Florida Lady Bombers – BA .667, R 3, H 2, RBI 2, ROE 1, OBP .667, SLUG 1.000, OPS 1.667, AB 3, RISP 1.000. Defensively at Catcher - no errors or passed balls. CSA 2, CS 1. My offensive highlight for the event was a stand up Double with an RBI. The count was 2-2 and I was concentrating on shortening up my swing due to the count with runners in scoring position. Additionally, I scored from second on a base hit.
