CHARACTER BEFORE SKILL
As a young adult, exploring opportunities for college and with my desire to play softball at the college level, I’m learning that discipline and dedication are more important now as ever before. Searching for a school that is a fit for me is a process that requires both.
I desire to attend a school that has two key components – my desired field of study and a competitive softball program.
My personal goals are supported by my beliefs. As a Christian I try to allow my beliefs to back all that I do. I’m committed to being the best person I can be and strive to consistently operate with a high level of integrity. At times it is difficult and I struggle, but I understand the importance of pushing through adversity and becoming better and smarter as a result. In terms of my personal goals, I intend to use my college years to grow in independence, responsibility and prepare for the next chapter of my life.
As an athlete, I’ve been blessed to play at a high level of competition for many years. These opportunities have challenged and grown my skills and I have learned to appreciate this benefit. I’m a hard worker and don’t back down from a challenge. I’m respectful and believe I have a good understanding of leadership and its place in growing me. I am a team player and feel this might be my greatest asset. If I’m struggling, I believe it shouldn’t be visible or affect others. Frequently, my teammates lean on me to pull them up and increase their confidence when they are struggling.
In terms of my academic goals, it closely resembles my needs and focus with athletics. I am a hard worker. I challenge myself and am currently taking four honors classes. I have to work hard to keep the grades I keep and I am working hard to do better. Managing my academics with my athletic commitments is an example of my commitment level and willingness to be challenged and I currently am able to uphold a better than average GPA.
I believe I am a well-rounded student athlete and look forward to finding the fit for my collegiate life.
