There are a few things I know I'll never forget from growing up in my parents' house...1. Ask, don't tell; 2. Put your shoulders back; and 3. You always have work to do. These three phrases can almost get you through any situation you find yourself in and for softball and being a good teammate, I can definitely see the correlation. The more exposure I have with players, the more I see a little respect and gratitude goes a long way. Walking in with confidence, even if you're a bit doubtful or shy, might even fool yourself - right into hitting a triple or home run. Putting in the work, day in and day out - making yourself a life-long learner from the greats, and also the strangers that just want to share some knowledge with you, - that's where your lessons come from that you can apply on the field and off.
As I wrap up the 2022-2023 travel season, I can reflect and honestly say, I've learned so much. There are some really nice people out here that love this game and are willing to help if you show them you're ready to work. I'm excited about starting my high school career with a new set of teammates and am happy for the opportunity to play with the Varsity and JV teams. It will be a busy fall, but I know I will enjoy every second. Let's go BUCS!
