Personal Statement
Softball is more than just a sport to me, it's my life. I was 11 when I first started playing softball, and before that I played soccer for 7 years. My dad had wanted me to try softball because he knew how much I loved to play catch and run with him. I was a little nervous because I had never played softball and didn't really understand the game all that well. After my first season, I felt that I was pretty good so I traded my soccer cleats for softball cleats and never looked back.
I am passionate about softball; I am committed; I am a team player; and I am a very hard worker, but my biggest strength is my speed. I almost always find a way to get on base, whether it's hitting, bunting, or getting walked. I am also an aggressive and smart base runner. Because of my speed, I make the defense nervous, I can get into their heads, but I can also get into the opposing coach's heads as well.
Softball is very important to me, but school always comes first. I take pride in my grades and strive for perfection. I am pretty good at Math and have been in the Accelerated Math program since the 6th grade. During my freshman year of high school I was part of the Relay for Life club as well as the Student Council. I wanted to join more clubs, but because I play softball for both the Varsity and a travel ball team and I had a couple of tough classes, I did not want to overdo it. My sophomore year, I was nominated for the Governor's Honors Program for Graphic Design, and I was inducted into the National Honor Society and the Beta Club. I was also on the Yearbook Staff and I am currently responsible for designing the Softball Team's pages in the yearbook. My junior year I co-founded and was the Vice-President of the Environmental Club. As a senior, I am participating in the Move-On-When-Ready program by taking college courses at Georgia Military College.
Even though I love softball and it is such a huge part of my life, there is a lot more to my life than playing ball. I also consider myself to be artistic because I can draw and create computer art; I consider myself more of a sketch artist. My specialty is animals. I am really getting into graphic design. I work a lot in Adobe InDesign, and I am starting to learn PhotoShop. I have taken Graphic Design courses in high school, and was on the Yearbook staff as well. I want to be involved Graphic Design in some form or fashion when I go off to college.
When I am not playing softball, I like to play video games and hang out with my friends. I also like to travel with my family, and sometimes we go watch an Atlanta Falcons football game. But in all honesty, at the end of the day, I want to either be playing softball or watching softball!
