Shelby Weber '17 Recruiting Profile

I am Shelby Weber, otherwise known as "Crash" during the game to my parents. I have been playing the game of softball since before I can remember, but it wasn't till a few years ago that everything finally clicked. It was at that moment when I knew I wanted to take it farther; to take it to the collegiate level. I am dedicated to fulfilling that goal. My love and passion for the game has grown stronger every minute, of every day. I want to be the first person in my family to go to college, this would be a huge honor. But, playing the game I love so much while doing so would be an even bigger one. I am not afraid to push myself and put extra time in after practice, not only putting in physical reps, but mental reps as well. As Yogi Berra says "90% of the game is half mental". I also work just as hard in the classroom as I do on the field. When it comes to my teammates, I always put them first. When I step into the dugout, then onto the field, it's like I've gained 8 more sisters. And when someone asks me what winning means to me, I go by what Vince Lombardi once said "Winning isn't everything, but wanting to is.".

Outside of softball, I'm a secret music lover. I love all things music, and even if I'm a bit off key- I love to sing. I took part as one of the lead roles in my school's musical, "Standardized Testing". This was a very rewarding, fun experience, and I plan on participating in more plays throughout my high-school career. I am also a member of my schools student council. I love to be part of the decision making, and leadership aspect of the student body. 

Through the multiple aspects of my life, I have learned many skills that I believe I could showcase at the college level. I am hard working, dedicated, and full of fun. Give me a chance, you will not be disappointed.
