Personal Statement

I have been playing softball since I was 6 years old. I fell in love with the sport from the beginning. I loved being a part of a team and working together to win a game. As I grew up, I wanted to further my skills and learn more about the game. I pushed myself and worked hard, ending up being able to play travel softball for the Crystal Lake Comets. Being a part of the team since I was 11, I have been able to develop into a player who has learned to put the team in front of my personal goals.  Not only is that a key factor to winning games, but a important lesson in life. The Comets gave me the opportunity to become the player I dreamed of. Once I entered high school, I was more than excited to be a part of the softball team. As expected, my freshman season on the Junior Varsity team was one of the best experiences. I learned a lot from the older players on my team, and worked hard to become a part of the Varsity team this season. I am eager to continue to develop this season and further improve my skills.
Even though softball is the biggest part of my life, it's not the most important. My academics and volunteer work are my top priority. I have been extremely motivated throughout my schooling and always put in the extra effort to learn more outside of school. Because of this, I was able to move into Honors and AP classes in high school. My grades are very important to me,  and I give nothing less than my best when it comes to academics. As far as volunteer work, I was fortunate enough to start a charity, through my travel softball team, called Comets Care (www.cometscare.org).   Our goal is to raise money and help various charities in the Chicago Area. We participate in many walks, hold fundraisers, and have been fortunate enough to help at Ronald McDonald House in Downtown Chicago. In less than a year, we have raised nearly $10,000. Comets Care has taught me how important it is to give back to your community and help those who are less fortunate than you, things that I will take with me for the rest of my life.
More than anything, I am excited for college. I can't wait for the new opportunities and experiences I will have. My goal is to be able to play softball in college, but not sacrifice my academics. I want to be able to balance my schooling and my athletics, as well as enjoy the college experience. My intended major is Biology or Neuroscience. I plan on pursuing a Graduate degree after I complete my Undergraduate. I also want to be able to continue my volunteer work and give back to the community I have become a part of.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
