Personal Statement
Softball has always been my passion since I was six years old. I fell in love with catching from watching my sister play. I have played every position except for pitching, but I'm always up for a challenge. I have also started varsity every year of high school. Softball has been my life since I can remember, I've only missed one summer of playing. I've been on a lot of teams and always have managed to make friends with the players, coaches, and umpires. At an early age my goal was always to play softball in college and someday coach a team of my own.
For my size I won't be the biggest player on the diamond, I'm 5'4 but the coaches I've played in the past say I'm a triple threat. I stole over 45 bases during my high school career so far. I've been able to pick up on other coaches signs and signals very accurately. I'm quick around the bases but I learned fast that you have to be smart too. I've taught some of our freshman the game, how to pick up signs, how to make double plays, or how to just hold someone at third when the run's more important.
My family has always been a major support system for me, whether it was talking to me about my stance for catching or throwing balls at me in the back yard. They have been to almost every game I've ever played. They've never brought me down or used the wrong words. They help me with everything they can and the things they can't help me with they find someone who can.
During school I go to Bloomington Area Career Center, which is helping me get my CNA. The major I would like to pursue would be EMT or nursing. I would like to do this because I really enjoy helping others and being able to do something on the spot, plus I think not having to stop and think would actually be an amazing experience.
