Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Amanda Diaz and I'm 5'3" and 115 pounds. I will graduate from Mundelein High School in 2016. I have been playing softball for the past ten years, six of which have been at the travel softball level. In 2013, my 16U travel team won an ASA National Championship. As a freshman, the varsity team consisted of mostly seniors, so I dominated on the JV softball team, but practiced and played several games with the varsity team throughout the year. By my sophomore year, I started on the varsity team at both second base and in the outfield. I am dedicated to further developing my skills throughout the remainder of high school and in college. I aspire to continue my softball career at a competitive level, ideally somewhere in the Midwest, but I would consider other locations. I am looking for a school that will provide me the right balance of academics and athletics. I am a devoted student and athlete. I lead by example in both areas as a high honors student and team captain. I always strive to excel academically. Currently, I have a 4.26 GPA that I earned with a rigorous load of Honors and AP courses. I am equally driven when it comes to softball. Relentlessly working to get better, in the past year, I have improved my home to first speed from 3.1 to 2.78 seconds. My dream has always been to play softball at a collegiate level, and my passion for the sport grows stronger every day.
