Personal Statement
My love for softball started when I was growing up. My older sister, who I looked up to, played softball for our in town softball organization. I loved watching her games and cheering her on. When I reached the age of 6, I couldn’t wait any longer to play the sport as well. One of my earliest memories of softball when I was playing in an 8u game, after the game, an opponent’s parent told me “You played like a beast out there at short stop!”. I remember the feeling that my hard work that summer was paying off, and I fell in love with that feeling. Throughout my softball career I have faced a few challenges but they have only made me stronger. The first weekend of June after my freshman year in high school I injured my ankle and missed the entire travel summer softball season. During that time I realized how much softball meant to me and how much I wanted to excel at the sport I loved. It was during this rehab period that I realized how much I love playing the game and confirmed my belief that I want play at the collegiate level. During my rehab from this injury, my drive for softball became so much stronger. It led me to training 4 times a week for strength and conditioning, as well as working on my hitting and fielding skills several times per week.
Softball overall has made me develop a good work ethic both on and off of the field. Academically during college I am looking forward to taking all the business classes I can, because after college I am certain that I will follow in my father's footsteps and start my own business. I have always excelled in Math classes, and I find Business classes very enlightening with my upbringing. I have learned through softball that if you want to excel at anything it takes hard work and dedication. Life is a lot like softball, I am continuing to put in my 110% effort into it, so at some point, I can enjoy my accomplishments!
