Personal Statement
My name is Kaitlyn Mathews. I am a junior and three-year varsity starter at Paris High School. I have played softball competitively since I was seven years old.
On the field, I am a very versatile player that can and will play wherever my team needs me, but my primary positions are centerfield and short stop. At the plate, I am a left-handed hitter who hits very consistently. I am a two base, line drive hitter.
Softball has not only grown to be something that I am passionate about, but also a sport that has shaped me into who I am. I have met some of my best friends through softball and learned some of my most valuable lessons. I have learned a lot about myself as well. Through softball, I have learned that I am very determined, and I do not let hard work scare me away. I have also learned that my attitude is one of my strongest assets and I know how to conduct myself on and off the field, without letting my emotions get the best of me. I play with 110% effort at all times, and I am willing to take up the challenge that it is to be a college athlete.
During my college career, my plan is to pursue a degree in kinesiology to reach my goal of becoming a chiropractor.
