Ashton Matherly '17 Recruiting Profile

As a small child I learned to love ball from my dad.  As I started to play myself my passion for the game has grown.  I love to be on the field getting dirty, making plays, practicing and hitting the heck out of the ball.  I love being a part of the team and growing with them to be our very best.  I could play ball every day. Softball is a huge part of who I am and my goal is to play as long as I can.  Moving into my college years I would love to find a team that would support and strengthen me on the field as well as a school that would support my academic needs.  I am also looking for a knowledgeable, strong and supportive coach that will be a good mentor in the event I decide to coach softball after graduating.  

I am the starting third baseman for both of my teams and third base is my passion but with my knowledge of the game and my athletic talent I can also be a strong first baseman and utility player.  My high school coaches lean on me to help the underclassman with skill building and I enjoy this tremendously.  My coaches appreciate my passion for the game, determination in practice and my drive in games to be the best I can for our team.
