Personal Statement
Hi, I’m Reiley, a 17 year-old Senior from Huntington, Indiana. I currently attend Canterbury School, a private college preparatory school in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I have been playing this sport since the age of 4, so you could say that softball has been my life ever since I can remember. I am a competitor and I am looking to win and succeed both on the field and in the classroom.
I actively participate in many extracurricular activities, such as Pre-Med Club, Key Club, Social Committee, Resource Committee, and I am a new member to the varsity cheerleading squad. I also volunteer weekly at Love In the Name of Christ, a local food bank and clothing store for families in need. I also help out around my school by giving tours to prospective students and families and organizing social events, such as semi formal and prom. I am currently taking mostly honors and 2 AP classes for my junior year and I am working on a junior independent project about biosynthetic insulin, which is a long research paper, similar to a senior thesis. Although I am very active with all of my extracurriculars and volunteering, I always make sure to keep time to practice softball, due to it being one of my top priorities.
Playing softball in college has always been a dream of mine that I want to make come true. I have never lost the passion I have for the game and I could not imagine giving it up after my senior year of high school. The feeling I get every time I step on the field with my team is something that I wish I could never give up. Softball has allowed me to make lifelong friends and to become a better person, therefore playing in college is an experience that I would love to have. I would like to bring my energy and readiness to learn to a college team while bettering my skills for the game. I am always working on improving my game and I look forward to only getting better.
