Abigail Bond '24 Recruiting Profile

There are several things I would like you to know about me and the most important one to me, is my heart. I have a big heart which drives my passion for softball, exceptional grades in school, a close family bond as well as with my friends and teammates. Since my first Schererville softball All-Star experience at 8U, I knew I wanted to play at a bigger level and in college. From there my love of the game started and continues to excel. With the loving and endless support from my parents, I started softball travel ball  7 years ago, when I was 9, with the NWI SOX Fastpitch. Since my start, I've continued to work hard and progress in my pitching, hitting and fielding abilities. I love every part of the game, but my most favorite part is hitting. I love the challenge of hitting, strenuous hitting workouts, and especially enjoy my lessons. My hitting instructor, challenges me and says never settle.

Softball is not my only love. Volleyball has recently brought me great joy. Last year I made the 7th grade Volleyball team without ever formally playing. This launched a new love and desire to perfect my volleyball skills. I'm currently playing a half season of travel volleyball while waiting for my softball season to start up again in the spring. I feel volleyball has made me a better softball player. It has taught me to relax, go all out and dig balls and forces me to make quicker decisions. While it is challenging managing school, softball lessons and camps, playing a 1/2 season of volleyball, all of this is keeps my heart full and pushes me to be the best person I can be. All the life lessons I'm learning by managing my daily activities is priceless and the best is yet to come!!
