Katlyn Schiefen '15 Recruiting Profile

Thank you in advance for viewing my profile.  I am current committed and playing for Southwestern Iowa Community College and LOVE it here.  I am looking to advance to a four year university to complete my Bachelor's degree in Research-Child Psychology.  I definitely also want to continue to compete in fastpitch softball for my final two years of eligibility.

What can I say?  I LOVE softball!  The competitive nature and rivalry of the sport, the good friends I have developed, and how this sport has allowed me to grow.  I am blessed to have met persons from around the world and develop friendships with players that will last a lifetime.

Since I began playing softball, my goal has been to pitch in collegiate levels of play and to be part of Team USA in the future.  My highest hopes are to see Women's Fastpitch back in the Olympics (come on 2020).  I work diligently each day toward these goals.

Although predominately a pitcher, I also add value to rosters as an accomplished left fielder and 3rd baseman. During the 2015 season, I posted a .408 batting average base percentage.  50% of my hits were bases plus hits. Fielding percentage was a .963 overall.

I tend to deal better with "hands on" coaches that hold me and the team accountable for our actions on the field.  "Rainbows and Sunshine" just aren't my thing.  Do not misinterpret.  I am a TEAM player but I am also competitive.  If we as a team are not performing to our capabilities, I feel it is part of the coaches job to let us know that and force/help us correct it.
