Personal Statement
The first thing people learn about me is my love of sports, my competitive nature and desire to win. When I was 5, I started Karate and worked my way up to the rank of Junior Black Belt. I was selected as a student instructor to help teach classes of all age groups. Karate taught me that it takes a lot of time, dedication and hard work to achieve your goals.
I've found my true love of sports through playing softball. Last year I joined the NOLA Lightning Elite 16U exposure team playing shortstop. After just one tournament, I was asked to move up and play on our 18U team. The best feeling I get is when younger players come up and say that they want to be just like me. I realize I'm always setting an example for others.
My goal this year is to compete for a starting position on the varsity softball team. I know I can help both offensively and defensively to making the team even better. My flexibility to play any position allows me to contribute enormously to the team.
Academy of our Lady's reputation as one of the top academic schools along with its strong athletic traditions influenced my decision to attend. These same factors will impact my college decision process. I would like to play Division I softball because I enjoy competing at the highest level. However, I am open to finding the best college and athletic program that fits my academic goals and athletic abilities. I am interested in pediatric anesthesiology but have not committed to a college major or profession.
