Personal Statement

What I enjoy most about softball is the head-to-head battle between the pitcher and the batter.  Being a pitcher, I am able to experience this excitement with each game that I play.  I love being challenged by the batter that fouls off one of my pitches to stay alive.  I love when a well thrown junk pitch gets the batter and sends them back to the bench.  As a batter, I experience the thrill of the battle from that perspective as well.  One of my most exciting moments as a batter happened this past season in a game where our team was down.  I was up at the plate and had a twelve pitch at bat before I got on base - I won that duel.  While I experienced the satisfaction in winning that battle, getting on base, and helping my team, I also knew what that did to the opponents pitcher, who had to expend all of that extra energy only to come out on the losing end of that battle.

While softball is a huge part of who I am and something that I am extremely passionate about, academics have also played a huge role in shaping who I am and who I want to be.  In my current sophomore academic year, all of my classes are AP and honors and I particularly enjoy those classes that are part of a STEM curriculum - specifically science and math. I am looking to attend a college that can help me continue to play the sport that I am passionate about while achieving all of my academic goals.

  • The Varsity School was created by Denise Davis in 2005 and has been the backbone of training and culture at PFP for 15 years. Directed by Denise Davis and Kerri Jacklets, the Varsity School delivers energy in a robust manner to a select group of pitchers, hitters and catchers who want to train at the highest level. We seek out players who have similar work ethic, curiosity, engagement and athletic goals. Athletes who apply will be hand selected by Denise Davis. During Varsity School, we will tackle player development from every angle. Data, video analysis and classroom sessions will fully support the total development of each player who is accepted. We will dive into physical, mental and sport performance curriculum and push towards a deeper understanding of how all three areas impact game day. Specific areas of development will include mechanics enhancement, timing work, speed measurements, plate strategy, routine and reset design, video analysis, alternate pitch development and sequencing. Students will learn high level concepts in an intense academic setting with expectations that match that of a college softball program. We will ramp up from technical to tactical as we navigate through the Varsity School, finishing with Live Hitting and Pitching scenarios.

By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
