Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Aurora Wilks I am a Junior at Fruitport High School in Fruitport Michigan. I currently play travel softball for the Grand Rapids Blaze and for my high school's varsity team as their starting pitcher, I have been playing and pitching since I was 8 years old and ever since I started playing softball and pitching it has been one of my biggest dreams to play at the collegiate level, after that dream became a goal I started playing travel ball and dedicating myself to getting better by taking pitching lessons once a week and pitching two to three more times outside of that, hitting three days a week and lifting weights three days a week. Not only do I play softball but basketball, volleyball, golf and throw shot put as a way to help better myself for softball. I am fully devoted to not only getting better at my sport but also to keeping up a high grade and pushing myself in the class room. I excel in all of my classes along with four honors classes and AP classes. School is important to me because I would like to get into not only a good school for softball but a school that will give me a future in what I choose to do. I plan on studying biomedical engineering and psychology.
Playing softball is my favorite pass time. I am a hard worker at practice, in a game, and when no one else is around. To me hard work isn't just for when you're at practice or in a game, there are no days off, there should never be a day when you aren't trying to better yourself, not just in your physical skills but as a teammate as well. A big part of the games is not only talent but the will to win at any cost, even if it means you're not on the field or court. Being a teammate and supporting all coaching decisions, even if you don't like or agree with them, if it is the best thing that will help you win. So I try to be the best teammate and team player I can be even if it means I won't be on the field, I'll be on the side lines supporting every teammate.
