Personal Statement
My softball career started when I was 7 years old. My friend's mom was looking for players so I decided to try it out. When I was younger, I played many different sports including soccer, basketball, and swimming. I would always ask my dad to play catch with me or go practice softball after practices or games in other sports. I knew then that softball was going to be my sport/passion. I started catching in machine pitch because we didn't have a catcher on the team and I've been catching ever since. I love catching because it has a lot of action and you have to know everything that's going on in the game. You are the one that can see everything. My primary position is catcher and my secondary is first base. I am a left handed catcher and a left handed power hitter.
My passion continues to grow for the game every day. Since I was a little girl, I've always dreamed of playing in college and taking my skills to the next level. I have been successful in pressure situations. Offensively, I am the type of player that always wants to be in the batters box when the game is on the line. I have been able to help my team in numerous walk off homeruns or hits to help my team get a win. I am the type of player that never gives up. For me, the game is never over until the final out.
Academically, I work hard in the classroom to receive and maintain good grades. I recently received the Positive Eagle Award for my positive attitude and work ethic in the classroom.
Softball has taught me discipline, time management and work ethic. I am very coachable and continue to learn and practice to get better with every season. I believe that hard work and these life skills will help me succeed in college and beyond. I have been fortunate to always be on a team with teammates that have always been there for each other. They are my best friends and we've always had a great relationship and chemistry. I want to be able to play in college and develop relationships with teammates and coaches at the next level.
