Personal Statement
My name is Mikki Hastings and I am currently a sophomore at Chadron Senior High School in Chadron, NE. I am a 4.0 student ranked 1 out of 60 students in my class, and participate in softball, health professions, swing choir, FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), Interact (Rotary), and musical. Academics are very important to be to maintain my best performance both in the classroom and on the field. I plan on going to college to study Nursing and Pediatric care.
Along with being involved in school activities, I am also very involved in my community. I have been given the opportunity to sing the national anthem and perform special entertainment at various events, volunteer to speak at schools about Disability awareness, and team up with Children's Miracle Network and Special Olympics through my pageant experience in the Miss America Organization.
I am also a member, and selected team leader, of the Flames of Nebraska fastpitch softball team, coached by Rick Buerer, out of Kearney, NE. We have been ranked #1 in the nation in class C and B for the past thirteen years.
I am very passionate about softball. I believe playing softball is very beneficial in encouraging a healthy lifestyle, promoting self esteem, practicing goal setting, learning about and experiencing teamwork, using time management, learning about and dealing with adversity, and most of all, having fun! I lead vocally, and also by example. Giving each practice, workout, game, and day everything I have is important to me. I believe that hard work, dedication, a good attitude, passion, a love for the game, and the desire to become a better player every second of every day is success and will in turn lead to even bigger benefits.
