Personal Statement
Hi! My name is Madison but my friends call me Maddy. For the fall semester of 2019, I attended and played ball at Roosevelt University in Chicago. While I loved and thrived in the college environment, I was no longer able to afford the school, resulting in my moving back home to Nebraska. I am currently working full time as a CNA and volunteering by giving softball clinics and lessons. I am planning to take classes this summer to complete credits needed to finish my freshman year. I earned 17 credits at Roosevelt and maintained a 3.9 GPA while playing fall ball. I only received a 3.9 because I had an A- in Chemistry, otherwise I would have a 4.0 GPA. I declared my major as Biology as it is my goal to attend medical school after I graduate.
For my travel team and Roosevelt I primarily played outfield. However, for my high school team and my earlier years of travel ball I was the first string pitcher and have continued to practice pitching so I can be more versatile for the needs of my future team. I am open to being a pitcher or a position player in college. I have played some 2nd base and was training to be a catcher at Roosevelt. I have caught many pitchers over the years and have a little game experience behind the plate. My batting average for fall ball was .286 with a slugging percentage of .857 and on base percentage of .444 during my total of 7 at-bats. Along with those stats, I hit one homerun, made contact every at-bat, and my quality at-bat percentage was .500 all during college. I am excited to bring my experience and competitive nature to a new program and make a difference on day 1.
