Personal Statement
I have just completed my sophomore year and I am a three sport athlete with a strong focus on softball. I enjoy the thrill of winning. Working to be the best that I can be in everything that I do is a given for me. I am a firm believer that there is always room for improvement so I am constantly practicing and figuring out ways to further develop my skills. I am used to playing up a leveI and look forward to the challenge of making an immediate impact for a college team. I have been the shortstop on our high school team that just won it's third straight state championship. The first year we had to prove ourselves after losing the first five games of the season. We overcame these losses and figured out how to pull together and continue winning in the post-season. This second year we entered with a target on our back and had to ward off our opponents game by game. This past season, we still had a target on our backs, but also 4 starting spots that graduating seniors played. I felt it was part of my job to help acclimate the new players from our JV team to our Varsity team to help ensure we were successful. I have learned from each of these challenges valuable lessons that I am able to draw upon. Not only long term for an entire season, but also in short term for a specific tournament for travel ball. This past year I was chosen as a 1st team all division shortstop as well as 5th team All State. Although I am a skilled pitcher, I gladly stepped into the role of shortstop the past few years as that is where my team needed me. Our senior pitcher has signed with a Division I College (Florida Gulf Coast). Putting the team before yourself is crucial for success. On top of all my drive, coachability, and leadership qualities in athletics I am an extremely conscientious student. I am looking forward to finding that great fit on the playing field, but also the classroom as well.
