What makes me different from other athletes, I would say nothing because we all train hard, and we all love the sport. I began playing softball when I was a young girl, my mom had me in almost every sport I could be a part of. Actually every relative on my mother side played balled to include all of my siblings (I am the youngest of four) so it has become a family affair. When I was six my mother and my step father moved from California to North Carolina to be close to my oldest sister. She joined the Army in 2000 and is currently still on active duty. I always loved studying and did very well in public school. I started playing T-Ball for the parks and recreation in 2006 and then in 2009 started fast pitch. That same year (2009) my mother became very ill with breast cancer and in 2012 she lost the fight. My oldest sister took custody of me and my travel softball team became my family. My love for softball grew stronger and stronger it became my outlet. A few weeks after my mom passed away, my sister was preparing to deploy to Afghanistan I tested into Fayetteville Academy; a college prep private school and was accepted. The school’s academic work load was and is still very challenging. I have been working very hard to maintain a 3.0 GPA and am hoping to achieve a 3.7 GPA by the end of my junior year. I have always been a member of a team and the feeling I get when I get on the field is indescribable. Now that it is time for me to find a university, I hope to choose a school that will help me not to just grow as a student but as a young women. I hope to take all of my training that I have learned over the years and make me an asset to your institution as collegiate athlete. My life has pushed me to work hard for what I want but also has taught me that life is too short to not do what you love.
