Alexandra Grooms '16 Recruiting Profile

My name is Alexandra Hope Grooms, but most people call me Allie. I have been playing softball since my 4th grade year and have loved it ever since! My biggest accomplishment my 5th grade year was my first time up to bat against girl's fast pitch I hit a homerun. From my 5th grade to 7th grade year I played mainly 3rd base and left field, but in 8th grade I discovered I could pitch. I have been taking lesson with my pitching coach since 9th grade, so that makes about 3 years now. My favorite moment playing softball in high school was last year, my sophomore year, where I played in the all day Badin tournament and I pitched 11 innings that day. It was the most I ever pitched but it was so fun and I just wanted to keep going, but of course I have a smart coach who made me rest after those 11 innings. I also enjoy playing volleyball where I am a three year Varsity player and made 2nd team all conference. School is also one of my enjoyed activities as well and English is my favorite subject. Most teenagers don't like learning but I do! I try hard to keep my grades up and maintain a 3.2 GPA so far and hopefully even higher soon. In college I want to study criminology and criminal justice so that hopefully one day I can work for the FBI in the BAU (behavioral analysis unit) and use my knowledge to help people. One thing I would say I do well at in all sports is I never stay as good as I am, I always continue to get better as the season goes on. I continue to jump farther, throw better, become more and more accurate, and become faster every year I play. I would love to play softball at the collegiate level and I know I would and will work hard to get to that level.
