My name is Marissa Ford I am 5'5" pitcher from Bartlesville Oklahoma where I have established several long lasting friendships and where I began playing softball when I was five years old. That's when my love for softball began! I come from a very athletically oriented family who are not only my biggest supporters but also my greatest hero's! My family has often made great sacrifices for my passion whether it is financially or just time on the field helping me practice. My current GPA is 3.5. My ACT score is TBA.
My attitude on the field and off the field is very positive. I am a big believer in the fact that as a pitcher I am only as good as my defense and as a batter I am only as good as my choice of swings. I rely on the wisdom of my coaches to better my pitching and batting skills. I do find that I am often harder on myself than my coach is. Not so much for the need to please my coach but to please myself in my abilities to pitch and hit.
Though I realize I have made several mistakes in my life and in the game I know that I also have learned from those mistakes and work hard to not repeat them. I credit that to the discipline that my family has instilled in me. Without the discipline that I have now made my own responsibility I would not have been able to reach my latest goal of completing a mile in eight minutes. Also I have been able to stick to a food plan that has helped me loose forty-one pounds and counting. This ongoing goal has challenged my discipline of myself. My short term goals for the remainder of my high school career is to pitch at least five shut out games, memorize the pitches my batter can and cannot hit, improve my batting, running speed, pitching speed and also hit a homerun. My long term goals are to receive a Bachelor's in nursing from the University of Florida or the University of Arizona colleges for which finical assistance will be important to my choice. I am also willing to attend other colleges that will give me an opportunity to play college softball. My other long term goal is to play in summer Olympics on the USA softball team.
I have attended the Oklahoma State University (OSU) pitching camp twice and OSU's hitting camp once. I would like to attend both of those camps again before next season.
I believe that teamwork is important to any win or accomplishment. As Paul "Bear" Bryant once said "In order to have a winner the team must have a feeling of unity every player must put the team first ahead of the personal glory."
Although I may have an easy going humble personality please do not mistake that as a weakness. I am determined to learn more and be better than what I am now but most of all I am strong willed enough to make that all happen.
