Hello, I'm Abby Wilcox,a junior at Geronimo High School, in Oklahoma. I have been actively involved in athletics from a young age. I attend a small high school and have played softball, basketball, and golf. I feel that softball is the sport that I am best suited to play at the next level. I've been playing softball since the age of 6 and I have fallen completely in love with the sport. I mainly play 3rd base but I can play in the outfield and I am also used as a utility player. I will give my all at any position my coach place me. I have also played on the varsity all through out high school.
I am interested in studying Sports Medicine or Physical Therapy. After college I would like to work with athletes in a high school or a small college. I have always found a joy in helping people, but to help an athlete rehabilitate after an injury would be amazing. My goal in selecting a college is to find somewhere that I fit in academically, as well as athletically.
The reason I am interested in playing athletics at the next level is because I have learned so many life lesson through sports. For example, I have learned the importance of being leader who is dependable, responsible, trustworthy. I have learned to push myself to my limits to become the best that I can be not just in this sport but, life and school as well. I have learned to balance my athletic, academic, and social life. I feel that I have a very good work ethic and will push myself to be better than I was the day before. I am not afraid of hard work and correction. I would define myself a very coachable. I will give my team and coaches 110% of my abilities to better my team and am willing to make any sacrifice for my team.
I have been involved my a variety of organizations including FFA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and STUCO as well as holding my elected positions in student government and my class. I am an active member of my church attending youth camps and volunteering with church activities. I have participated on a Relay for Life team in my county for 4 years.
