Personal Statement
I began playing softball when I was just 6 years old. Because I was so small and fast, the coach taught me to bunt and slap to increase my on base percentage. This worked extremely well for me until I reached the age of 11 and hit a major growth spurt. At that point, my hitting coach decided it was time for me to learn to hit for power. As a result, I'm a very well balanced hitter. I can place the ball very well and when bases are loaded, I have the ability to drive the ball to the holes and score runs. I'm also a very versatile player and have played the corners, MIF, and outfield.
In the classroom, I work very hard to maintain a high GPA (3.84) while taking A/P and advanced classes. I also volunteer with many youth organizations, coach a 7th grade volleyball team, and I'm an active member of my church. Three years ago I made the difficult decision to give up club volleyball so that I could focus all my attention on softball training. I typically spend 5 nights a week working on all aspects of softball (speed, agility, hitting, fielding, and throwing). I love pushing myself and working with different coaches to gain additional perspective.
My dream is to work hard enough that my academic and athletic accomplishments will be rewarded with a scholarship to play softball in college.
