During the first two years of my high school career, I struggled being able to handle a new school environment, academics, helping run a family business and sports. During this time I let my grades fall. However, it was my high school teachers, coaches and riding trainer's influence that helped me see the importance of not only being a good athlete but that my academics are so important and success in both areas will help me become the well rounded individual I am hoping I am turning into. Over this past year I have not only made sure to make an effort on the field but also in the classroom and will continue to push myself at this level once I enter college.
I have been riding horses since I was 1.5 years old, playing softball since I was 6 years old and started playing field hockey when I was 10. I always enjoyed sports and look forward to going to practice and getting better at what I am doing. I continue to look to my coaches and trainers for their feedback and look forward to learning new methods from new coaches and continuing to hone my skills.
I consider myself a dedicated athlete, not only lettering in softball and field hockey but I also ride horses on a competitive level. Playing softball and field hockey on the varsity level has not only given me a competitive spirit but also taught me the importance of team work. This is just as important in riding horses when your team member happens to be a 1200 pound animal. I feel it is very important to give 110% every time I set foot on the field or in the ring. I push myself to be the best that I can be and encourage my teammates to do the same.
