My main goal as a softball player is to go to a school that has a good balance between softball and academics. I ended the first semester of my junior year with a 3.62 with mostly honors classes. I want to do well academically in college and possibly someday work in the science/medical field, majoring in biology, nursing or physical therapy. Taking honors classes challenges me because I set a high standard for myself. I believe I display this quality both on and off the field.
Two things that set me apart from other softball players are my quickness and defense. I was moved up halfway through my freshman year to run bases. Being calm and collected helps my team’s success. As a leader, I like to play with a positive attitude, calling out plays, making outs, scoring runs and getting hits with a quiet confidence. As a sophomore, I started as lead-off hitter and short stop, earning the team’s offensive player of the year and 2nd team All-State.
I am a good candidate for a college softball team because I have skills and experiences from travel ball. I played in 18U tournaments when I was 11, played international JO softball in the Netherlands at the age of 14 and helped buy my own car and get a job at 16. My mature attitude is a great asset that I have obtained over these years. Geographically, I am willing to attend any school in the USA and financial aid will definitely play a role in my decision. Ideally, I am looking for a program that I can contribute to early in my career.
