My name is Shannon Gallagher and I am a part of the Class of 2017 at Catasauqua High School. I have been playing softball since I was 7 years old. I knew a had a passion for the game when I decided to take a step forward and play travel ball when I was 11. From that moment on I devoted myself to softball and was fully committed on playing throughout my life. I showed a lot of eagerness, always wanting to be doing something involved with softball, either fielding, hitting or watching it on TV. I try to volunteer my time by helping the 12U Phantoms with fielding and batting skills. I love being able to share a passion with younger girls. It has been my dream ever since I was a little girl to play softball in college. As much love I have for the game I also realized that I need to devote myself in my academics. I try my best to succeed in school and I am always look for ways to improve my study habits. My current GPA is a 3.1, and I plan on taking the SATs next fall. My collegiate goal is to major in Physical Therapy or Athletic Training. As a player I strive for success on offense and defense. During my freshman year, I had a batting average of .373 and fielding percentage of .925, for the season. Freshman year I also received two award one for First-Team Colonial League and the other for Second Team All-Area. During my current year, as a Sophomore, I was asked to catch because our catcher for high school had gotten hurt. I have some experience catching. I got an award as Second Team Catcher in the Colonial League. I finished my Sophomore year batting .476 with 6 home runs, 32 RBIs and scored 15 runs. My fielding percentage is .989 and i have only made one error this season.
