Personal Statement
Hi Coach! My name is Moriah. My goals and aspirations are to play competitively at the next level in college. I'm a right handed pitcher who has worked hard to get where I am today. I'm from a part of Texas that's not known for the development of strong players but I can assure you that I can and HAVE competed with the best in my state and have fared very well. My current strengths are moving the ball around and keeping hitters off balance. When I'm hot and my stuff is at its best, strike-outs tend to be the result. As a sophomore I recorded 214 K's but I also succeed at popping up and grouding out batters for quick innings. I also take pride in my hitting. I batted 3rd last year as a sophomore and lead my team and district with 16 home runs. I do not have a problem with only pitching if and when I make it to the next level.
In my high schools STEM program I am currently pursuing a career in the medical field as a nurse and I would love to continue my education in college to be able to work in an OBGYN unit. I can take care of business in the classroom and know the transition to collegiate academics will be a difficult one. But I feel with the right coach, college and atmosphere, it wont be long until I'm making a significant impact in the classroom and on the field.
Please coach, don't make the mistake of overlooking me. I might not be much to look at and not live in a hot spot known for softball recruiting but when I step into that circle, I know for certain I give any team I'm playing for a chance to win. I'm going to continue to improve, develop, and be 10 times better of a player this time next year and years beyond that. So if your looking for that diamond in the rough, you know where to find it!
