Personal Statement
My name is Jessica Ashley Nicole Brown. I go by Ashley. I started playing softball when I was four years old and I have played ever since then. I also played basketball up until my freshman year, and ran cross country to stay in shape for softball. I just completed my sophomore year at Bledsoe County High School.
I always want to be outside doing something; not sitting inside watching television. I enjoy doing activities like throwing football with my little brother, camping and hiking with my family, or fishing with my dad. My family is very important to me. My parents are divorced, but that has never been a problem for us. They always get along. My parents have raised me to be respectful and I strive to make them proud every day, whether it is on the field or in the classroom.
I have a very observant, but out-going personality, which helps in softball and in life. Whatever I plan to do in my future will consist of sports, preferably softball. Softball is more than a sport to me. It is my passion in life. I play for multiple reasons. One is because I enjoy the feeling of being completely dedicated to something. Another reason is because I savor the feeling of accomplishing a goal that I have set at the beginning of each season. I also love how much fun I have with my teammates. I have fun no matter if it is school ball or travel ball. I believe confidence is key in softball. Without confidence you cannot do much; which I have realized from personal experience. I realize I am going to make mistakes, but what I do after those errors shows what I am capable of and just how good of an athlete I really am.
