Personal Statement
Hi! I am Rhylie Makawe some people just call me "Kiwi". (I got the nickname because my Dad is from New Zealand and it just kind of stuck).
I am a junior and attend Aledo High School and I have been the starting 2nd baseman for the past 3 years, under my coach, Jeff Lemons. We finished our 2014 softball season by winning Texas UIL Class 4A State Championship. I also am honored to have received the award for MVP. What an experience to win the Title.
I play Outfield and 2nd base for Texas Team Mizuno Impulse, coached by Alex Lozoya., I am glad to say that I have been blessed to be part of a select team the past 3 years where each player has the same intensity and drive that I have. Playing softball at the collegiate level is all I have dreamed and worked for. I wish to continue to play the sport I love as well as receive a quality education. I can’t imagine my life without playing softball.
I am a dedicated student athlete. I have always pushed myself in the classroom same as I do on the field. I have taking Pre-AP classes since I was in 7th grade. This year I am taking Pre -AP classes in Physics and Calculus and i am taking an AP History course. I am really interested in learning more about the Environment and how I can make a difference.
I have been told I am a very coachable athlete as well as someone to "go the extra mile". Once I step over the white line I never give anything less than 110%. Mentally i am like a chess player, seeing the next play in my head before it happens, that's what sets me apart from your average player. I have always seen myself achieving everything at the highest level possible on and off the field.
I truly LOVE the game!!
