Makenzie Chatham '16 Recruiting Profile

Since I was a little girl, I began, and still continue, to shape the person I hope to be through softball. Playing this game for years has uncovered admirable qualities in me and given me responsibilities that wouldn't have materialized otherwise. I've learned to be more patient, respectful, reliable, and open-minded, which has worked wonders and has ultimately humbled my teenage ego. I understand what dedication and persistence feels like coming back from an ACL injury. It wasn't only a physical injury, but it was just as much a mental one. One day at a time I pushed myself and embraced it to get to where I am now.
I'm certain these attributes, along with being coachable and hard-working, will make me a great fit for any collegiate softball program. I intend on making further improvements and becoming a vital part of not only a softball team, but family anywhere I attend. 
Academics hasn't ever been a problem for me. I keep up my grades and maintain a pristine GPA. I know in college, especially being part of an athletic program, it will take time, effort, and some sacrifice to make sure it stays that way....for which I am completely prepared.  As far as my whole college plan goes, I'm not completely certain as to what I want to major in, but I do intend on receiving my bachelors degree and attending graduate school afterward.
