Personal Statement

Hi, my name is Alexa Findley and I am currently a senior at Oak Harbor High School in Oak Harbor, Washington. I am originally from San Diego, California, where I lived for 13 years. I played softball in San Diego for 6 years before I moved to Washington. I currently compete as a member of SV Thunder Fastpitch 18 Gold team coached by Bruce Hedlund. I have experience playing every position on the field except pitcher. My coaches have told me that I get the job done at whichever position they put me at. But, I also have a strong arm, whether it’s throwing down to 2nd as catcher, or throwing across the diamond from 3rd base. Also, I hit for power and average. I am an athlete that can be trusted at any position and move the runners at any time.

As a freshman I started as the varsity shortstop for my high school team which is in the second largest classification in Washington. When I am up at the plate, I put the ball in play a high percentage of the time. My batting average for my  for my sophomore year was a .470. I am also an excellent student with a 3.982 average. I keep my good grades even while taking, AP US History and AP Lang as well as other advanced classes. I am also apart of National Honor Society. This upcoming year I will be the NHS Public Relations officer and the Senior Class Secretary.

I have always looked ahead to the next competition level, and playing softball in college is the next step and also the next leap of competition. My goal is to study at the college of my dreams while getting a good education and being able to compete in the game I love, softball. Thank you for taking the time to view my profile!

Updated 7/8/14: Colorado was a great opportunity to show my skills. In my academic game, I went 1 for 2 with a hard ground ball through the 5 6 hole and a hard line drive in which the 3rd baseman caught making an outstanding play. I played 2nd base for 5 out of 6 innings. I had about 4 or 5 put outs including a diving catch behind the pitchers mound. In bracket and pool play, my team, SV Thunder, didn't do to well. But, I however, did well personally with a batting average of .267 ,a solid fielding percentage and committed no errors.
