Personal Statement
Family is the most important thing in my life. I have a brother 13, and sister 19 along with two amazing parents. Next to family sports have always played a key role in my life. My first sport I played was Tee-ball when I was 6 years old. I was also introduced to many other sports such as basketball, gymnastics, swimming, and volleyball. Because of my athleticism I found that I could play any sport I wanted to with great success. In gym class I always excelled which is where I discovered my interest in working out, pushing myself and competing. I attend an all girls high school which makes the athletics very competitive with so many girls trying out for each sport. Just in the last year we have won 5 State championships in various sports. The benefit of being in an environment where so many girls over achieve in sports and academics is that we push each other to get better.
I started playing competitive fastpitch softball in 7th grade, which is when I realized my true passion for the sport. I entered the club program as underdog; I only previously played recreational slow pitch softball. Being the least experienced on the team didn’t discourage me a bit in fact, it made me want to work even harder. I listen extremely well and I am a very fast learner. Something that sets me apart from others is that I am self discipline and willing to work harder than most people. For example, this past year during the off season, in addition to practices, I went to the YMCA five times a week without ever being told by anyone. I worked on my cardio and strength training. I have been told by my coaches and my dad, who played D1 baseball, that I am a coach’s dream kid to coach. As college started coming into the picture, I knew I wanted to play softball in college at a competitive level. Outside of sports, I love music and playing the piano for fun. In college I want to major in Business and take entrepreneurship classes. I plan to some day run my own company or be a part of a growing company where I can be in a leadership role. I believe my personal determination to succeed in life along with my positive attitude, work ethic, and family values make me an outstanding asset to any collegiate softball program. Thank you for considering me for your program.
