Amelia Heup '15 Recruiting Profile

I started playing softball when I was seven years old, and although I played various positions, I developed a love for pitching almost immediately. I have been my high school's varsity pitcher since my freshman year. In my high school career, I have been able to set two school records in number of innings pitched and number of strike-outs in a single season. In my junior year, I lead the North Shore Conference in strike-outs.
As part of developing my game on the diamond, I also continue strive to remain on top of my game academically too. By doing this, I have created a path that I plan to carry into my collegiate career and eventually my adult life.  Being a pitcher in the game of softball has taught me continual practice is a must in order to be successful. As I move forward in my collegiate life, I will focus on my studies in criminal justice with the plan to join a police force and become a detective.  
What sets me apart from other recruits is my ability to take direction and make the necessary adjustments to become a better teammate, softball player and student. I strive for excellence and am not afraid to work hard to achieve my goals.
