John Christie
Providence High School
Jacksonville, FL
Originally from Ukraine, John Christie always dreamed of playing soccer at the highest level. He is definitely on the right path. John recently committed to Garner-Webb University, a Division I program in North Carolina. Last year John led his varsity team to the state championship game and plans on doing the same this year.
John is a four year letter winner at Providence High School in Florida. He is a 2009 graduate, carries a weighted 3.86 / 4.0 GPA in the classroom and is on the Honor Roll. He is also a member of the Delta Tau Sigma Leadership Training. With his busy schedule in school, he always finds time for the field.
John’s dedication to the game and playing division I soccer is summed up in his person statement: “I have played soccer for 13 of my 18 years. I grew up in Ukraine where all we played was futbol and it has been my dream for as long as I can remember to play soccer at the highest level possible. As I conclude my high school career, I would like to make the move to the college level towards fulfilling my goals. After moving to the U.S. at age 11, I have played with some excellent premiere club teams and have lettered as a varsity player since the 8th grade. I am looking forward to my senior year to help lead a young team for another state run. I still have room for improvement and plan to do so over the course of the summer and next year. In summary and to "just keep it simple," I would like to say that soccer is my first love.”
Taylor West
Lawton Chiles High School
Tallahassee, FL
Taylor West, a 6’2” senior from Tallahassee, Florida, has ender her college search as she has made her final decision and will be attending Florida A & M University in the fall. She had visited several other schools and had some offers from some junior colleges that she had considered.
Taylor, who is a 3B/1B was a first team all-conference award winner for her high school team this past spring. She hit .382 with 8 home runs during the spring season. This fall she is playing with the 18U East Cobb Bullets Gold team and in competition at several showcase events.
She will be living at home to attend Florida A & M and was able to combine the softball scholarship with a Florida Bright Futures Scholarship to cover most of her college expenses.
Taylor wants to study pre-med during her college career.
After considering many schools, Florida A & M was the best fit for Taylor to study in her area of interest, play at a very competitive NCAA Division I level, be close to home and have a great overall financial package to pay for her education.
We at NCSA wish Taylor a great career and college experience at Florida A & M.
