Growing up as a kid, in a neighborhood where violence was pretty much on every street corner made it hard for me, but slowly, I overcame it. As a parent, my mom never really wanted me outside because of the shooting and gangs, so I never really spent much time outside. I wanted to do something when my mom decided to move us to the suburbs; something that'd keep me busy, something I had been interested in for a while. I began watching my big brother play basketball at the park, and that made me want to play. I was in 5th grade when I told my mom I wanted to play basketball, and she was instantly all for it. I can honestly say that in 6 years I've been playing, my mom has hands down been my biggest supporter on and off the court. I truly have come out of my shell since starting to play basketball. I've learned that through hard work and dedication, I can accomplish any goal no matter how hard it is. I've learned the true value to teamwork and persistence.
Off the court, family and school are the two most important things to me. I want to graduate high school in the top half of my class, and moving on to college, I'd like to graduate with a degree in Business Management and Business Administration. My work ethic, dedication, and aspirations on and off the court has taught me a lot throughout the years. In school, if I'm having trouble understanding a specific lesson, I don't shy away from asking for help, I am a student. And on the basketball side of things, I want to be a student of the game. I have a want and need to perfect things once I learn something new. I'm good at adjusting to new environments and adapting to changes. I hope to find a Collegiate Basketball Program that will benefit me athletically and academically.
